It was a really tiring day yesterday when Anime Corner Philippines held a general meeting at the Japanese Garden at Rizal Park.
The first part of the meeting includes getting to know the current members, heads and admins of the group itself. This was then followed by a training ground where there was a Mob Dance Practice (for participants who would want to be part of the upcoming Cosplay Mania 2013) and the Marshall training. The first part of the training turned out to be quite a piece of cake, if you know most of the places and the layout of the floor and being helpful enough to support injured or people with disability. This was then followed by jogging march in which the entire garden must be circled around five times! (that’s right, five times!) And finally, the meeting concluded with the upcoming event operations of Anime Corner Philippines, which includes the following:
Cosplay Mania 2013 (I wish I could come, but my parents wouldn’t allow me for now and do not know how to get home from SMX 😥 )
Anniversary Picnic (same place, October 25th)
Photoshoot (November 10th, at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center)
Welp, that’s it for now. And here’s the group pic!
All right! While I bring up some more shmup 1ccs, I bring you my first anime episode review and opinion, and here is Ro-Kyu-Bu!
What happens when you bring five cute and moe girls into the basketball field and have them coach by a high school boy? Well, you can guess it from this series.
The very first episode of the show introduces us to Subaru, a high school student who plays basketball and was assigned to be a coach at an elementary school, as well as the five cute elementary girls who are aspiring to become basketball players, namely Tomoka, Maho, Saki, Airi and Hinata. We are also introduced to Subaru’s aunt Mihoshi as well, who is also quite cute but don’t let her appearance fool you. She is going to expose Subaru’s secret if he could not train the girls within three days.
The curtain opener of the series turned out to do well, but it almost certainly spoiled us on what would be the aftermath from the what happened in the beginning of the show. The opening appearance of the girls were certainly cute, dressed up in maid clothes, but later dressed up in jersey clothes. It also showed us that Subaru’s basketball team were disbanded for a year, and coaching made him return to the basketball scene again. For some reason, Airi used to be the tallest of the bunch.
The funniest parts in this episode are the bathroom scene and Mihoshi’s neko ears when she pops out of Subaru’s room, which is quite funny. A fun way to start off the basketball girl anime series. But remember, height is JUST a number.
